Corey Massella is Katz, Sapper & Miller’s New York office leader and a partner in the firm’s Transaction Services and Technology Industry Services Groups. Corey brings more than 25 years of experience to his engagements as an entrepreneur and business advisor and as a specialist in SEC accounting and audit services. He also provides business consulting, audit and tax services for clients in a wide range of industries, including private equity, technology, alternative investors, restaurants, real estate, healthcare, apparel and financial services.

Prior to joining KSM, Corey served as partner and CEO of the SEC Solutions practice and was the founding member and co-leader of the private equity and technology practices of a nationally recognized and top-ranked accounting, tax and consulting firm. Corey has also held the role of CFO at privately held companies.

Corey has deep experience advising private equity funds, hedge funds, banks, broker-dealers, investor relations firms and various other financial services companies. He has successfully guided his clients through all facets of the mergers and acquisitions transaction cycle to help them make critical decisions while ensuring transactions are strategic and seamless.

As a business consultant, Corey works with CEOs and CFOs, as well as the boards of both public and private clients. He is an expert in counseling growing businesses with actionable strategies. For mergers and acquisitions, Corey performs due diligence and negotiations on both the buy and sell sides. He also prepares business plans and public offerings, and he assists with cash flow and productivity analysis to help scale businesses for growth. Additionally, Corey provides representation before the IRS and other government agencies.

PRESENTATION AND PUBLICATIONS

In addition to writing numerous articles, Corey is a frequent speaker, panelist and moderator for various industry forums, such as the New York Technology Council (NYTECH), the Long Island Capital Alliance (LICA) and The M&A Advisor. Corey has also instructed on a range of accounting and auditing topics for the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and other organizations.

EDUCATION

Corey received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Management. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of New York.

ASSOCIATIONS AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Corey is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the NYSSCPA. In 2015, he was selected as the winner of the SmartCEO award for Industry CPA Leader in New York. Corey currently serves as president for the Long Island Capital Alliance and is a board member for the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) New York as well as for the Long Island chapter of the Alliance of Merger & Acquisition Advisors®. His other board memberships and sponsorships have included the MIT Enterprise Forum (MITEF), The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Financial Executives Institute (FEI), the Keiretsu Forum and various Chambers of Commerce.
